This morning, Century Capital, London’s leading short-term lender for Prime property, announced a series of significant hires to form an institutional management team.
The first two hires of industry heavyweights mark the start of several appointments made this month in a move to consolidate new institutional funding lines and substantially increase transaction flow for Century Capital.
Paul Munford, CEO of Century, welcomes Ian Axe as Non-Executive Chairman, and Simon Golesworthy as Group Finance Director, in a bold move to enhance the direction of Century and project it into a new growth phase.
Ian has over 25 years of capital markets experience working in Investment Banking, Wealth & Asset Management and Market Infrastructure. He has lived and worked across Europe, the United States, Asia, and Africa and currently resides in London. Ian has a portfolio of roles including the Non-Executive Chairman of Century Capital, NED of Cignpost one of Europe’s fastest growing Biotechs and is the founder of ACi, a FinTech investment company.
Previously, Ian has held a number of senior executive positions, including Group CEO of Panmure Gordon, Group CEO LCH.Clearnet, EMEA COO Barclays Capital & COO ABSA Capital. During his financial career, Ian has worked with and sat on Boards, Advisory Panel’s and Investment committees. Ian started his finance career at SBC Warburg.

Century has made great progress and has a strong and well-balanced loan book specialising in Prime property. I’m looking forward to steer the business to further successes in the near future.”
Simon Golesworthy, Group Financial Director, is key to overseeing the transactional flow of the company and driving value creation. Simon’s role within Century Capital will be assisting in the opening of institutional funding lines, strengthening the finance function, and supporting the growth strategy of the business. Prior to Century, Simon worked for the US REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) Iron Mountain (IRM) in a variety of senior management roles, including CFO of their $3Bn North American and European business unit. Simon has a wealth of expertise spanning M&A, Operational Improvement and Back Office Transformation. Previously, Simon worked alongside Paul Munford as Finance Director of MCIFA, also based in Mayfair. Simon also has Client Advisory experience, holding the CII’s Chartered Financial Planner designation.
Simon commented: “I can see great opportunity in this space to significantly grow the business and increase Century Capital’s transactional flow. Century has a fantastic reputation and the business model is well positioned to evolve. It has been great timing for Paul and I to work together again, and I‘m looking forward to the challenges that this role will present.”
